In 2004, three prominent minority business advocacy leaders spearheaded the establishment of the country’s first Minority Business Hall of Fame and Museum in Dallas, Texas. Don McKneely, founder and publisher, Minority Business News USA, John F. Robinson, president and CEO, National Minority Business Council, Inc., and Carol Daugherty Foster, editor, Minority Business News USA, met on May 18, 2004 in New York City and officially launched operations of the new nonprofit entity.

John F. Robinson has earned a number of public and private sector awards as the founder and current president and CEO of the National Minority Business Council (NMBC). He proudly displays personal tributes from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the United States Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency. Founded in 1972, the NMBC has been a relentless advocate for MWBE enterprises. John has promoted supplier and workforce diversity by leading the NMBC in the development of programs for education and training, procurement, advocacy and international trade.

CAROL DAUGHERTY FOSTER
Carol Daugherty Foster was the public relations coordinator at the American College of Education and former editor of MBN USA, a national award-winning publication in the supplier diversity arena. As an experienced writer, editor and communications specialist, Carol has passionately supported minority supplier diversity for almost two decades. She is the recipient of a Special Recognition Award from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for positively promoting NASA’s Small Business Program.

DON MCKNEELY
Don McKneely is a veteran newspaper, magazine and radio communications leader who founded MBN USA magazine in 1988, which has received more than 75 awards for its work in supplier diversity development. As Chief Executive Officer of MBN USA, Don has also co-founded the Billion Dollar Roundtable, a nonprofit industry organization recognizing corporations that annually purchase more than $1 billion with minority and women owned businesses. Don currently serves as the BDR chairman emeritus. 2013 is a milestone year for MBN USA as it celebrates 25 years of award winning journalism and support for minority supplier development initiatives.
